It looked great, he got it opened and we got it put together easy, and it ran fine. Although even at 100% power it sort of runs slow. It doesn't even run at all at less than 40% power. He had been playing with it all day (about 6 hours) when it stopped working. I opened it up and could smell the burnt plastic. I figured out that there is a complete design flaw in this train. Its motor is housed in plastic that shrinks when it gets hot. When the train has been running the motor heats up and the plastic melts off and the motor comes away from its gears. I believe that the Bachmann Co. knows this and they lowered the power that the motor can use to solve the heat problem, that's why it doesn't do anything until about 50% power. Also the wheels are just barely on there and its overall cheep junk. Bachmann has a 1year and life time warranty. So I sent it to them and we got it back 3 months...
