A Review About - Thomas the Tank Engine


Everybody, especially kids are well aware of the cartoon 'Thomas and Friends'.This cartoon is based on the fictional steam locomotive engine 'Thomas the tank engine' book written by Rev.W.Awdry and his son Christopher.This character became most popular and first appeared in the second book in the series of 'Thomas and Friends' and named as 'Thomas the tank engine'.Totally the series consist of 20 books.The first series was broadcast in 1984 on Children's ITV in United Kingdom.The rail engines were animated pictures with all the humans as static and the engines talking among themselves.As per the fiction the blue tank engine named as Thomas lived in the fictional island of Sodor.He is always kind hearted and first one to give helping hand to other engines.He shunted the coaches for the Henry and Gordon, the main line engines.Thomas, the tank engine, is depicted as cheeky having short stumpy funnel, dome and boiler with 6 six wheels.He is painted in NWR's standard blue livery; red and yellow linings are coated and numbered as "1" in yellow in a red border painted on either side of the tank sides.On the back of the bunker Thomas has red lining.The episodes are pictured as some of the trains are in mishap and Thomas rendering a helping hand to those.Occasionally Thomas love to tease other engines.He is impatient sometimes and forgetful.But he is really optimistic and very ideal.He is shown as he learns by experience.Always thinks that anything could be done by him and face new challenges with courage and wisdom.Unknowingly he wanted to serve as passengers and freight engine and proves to be the best.Percy is portrayed as the Thomas best friend.The other engine characters depicted are Henry, Edward, Gordon, James, Toby, Bertie and Trevor etc.Edward is the oldest engine train and the courageous and kind hearted keen in helping friends in mishaps.He is hard worker and does the best job.Other engines considered Edward as rather old fashioned and slow.He is depicted as same as Thomas, the tank engine, except for the tank and his sides are written as '2' in yellow and red border.These railway series are written in order to catch the attention of the kids in railways and moral values are explained at the last of the chapters.Hence it serves as a medium of moral values.
