Inspired by the DVD "Day of the Diesels", little engineers can take Percy on an adventure through the Diesel Works. This set features multiple areas to lift and load cargo along with the red glowing diesel shed. Take the engines for a ride through the red glowing diesel shed with Diesel 10 resting inside. The engines can chug onto the turntable that raises and lowers where they can choose the gantry cran to lift and lower cargo, or the zip line that lifts the red hot cargo. Little engineers will have hours of fun recreating the adventure at the Diesel Works. Age grade 3 years and above.

We put together the Diesel Works last night, and I was not impressed. Every Learning Curve set has been sturdy/durable enough to justify the cost, except this one. In fact, I was prompted to write this review by a child crying in the throes of frustration. I agree with the previous review on most if not all points. The Good: Diesel 10's shed with lights and sound is fun, I like the configuration and turntable. The Bad: The "zip line" is 4 interlocking pieces that come apart very easily. It does not help that one of the 2 buildings (smelter house) connected by the zip line is not attached to the track, and therefore, does not stay in place (contributing to the zip line falling apart). The smelter house also has a plastic chute attachment that does not stay in place during play. The Diesel Wall simply rests against the Diesel shed and is prone to falling over. The... He likes the recent movie, Day of the Diesels, quite a bit so I thought I would get him the set for Christmas. What is good about the set is that it is compatible with wooden track pieces from other manufacturers eg. Ikea. The actual Diesel Shed is pretty fun (it glows, makes noise and talks like Diesel 10). However, here is what is not so good: - the zip line that connects the Smelters and blue Cargo Loading Station does not stay in place - the large Welcome-to-the-Diesel Works sign and piece that make up the back of the Diesel Works are not attached to the Diesel Shed (as one is led to believe from the Amazon picture). They are separate pieces that keep tipping over - my child has two different types of Thomas and Friends wooden trains. He has watched Day of the Diesels many times and has memorized many of the scenes and acts them out using the new Diesel Works. He is so happy and we love watching his little imagination while he plays. I think the only disappointment is in Day of the Diesels, Diesel Works is 2 stories and and this is only 1 level. Thomas Train games can be enjoyed both online and in the form of board games.On the official Thomas and Friends website, there are games your child can play during their visit.This includes Railway games, puzzles and matching games.The railway games are the most often chosen which include the Great Discovery where the video that was produced is now interactive with your child.It does take a minute to download, but is safe for your computer.This game involves your child helping Thomas and Friends to overcome many obstacles in finding their way to the Great Waterton, Knapford Station, and Tidmouth Sheds on the Island of Sodor.The game starts with the selection of which engine your child wishes to control.There is Percy, Stanley, James, and of course, Thomas.Some of the obstacles the engines will encounter are piles of coal on the tracks, Bertie stirs that got lost and is stuck in the tracks, broken tracks, or a horse blocking the tracks.Movement around the Island of Sodor is as easy as moving the mouse.Each player can go where they wish and see what they want.Each obstacle when clicked on will give the player a choice on how to solve the problem.The horse on the tracks has a key, lantern, hammer, and horn as possible solutions.If the wrong object is selected then it will ask the player to try again and tell which one is correct and the train will move on.The engine noise is realistic and upon completion of each game your child will hear the words "Great job, you made it!".This is just one of the many Thomas Train games available for your children.

Last night, I went to watch "Avatar's" Sam Worthington's new movie "Clash of the Titans." Overall the movie experience was out of this world! This was a remake of the original 1981 film in which Ray Harryhausen played the demi-god Perseus.I wasn't a HUGE fan of the original, but the new one was definitely a delight to watch! Especially since it is in 3D!!!.-).The story line is quite entertaining, hinging on a threat made by Hades (played by Ralph Fiennes)to send the Kraken to destroy the island of Argos if the beautiful princess is not sacrificed.Perseus, a demi-god (half god, half human) son of Zeus swears to kill the Kraken.This oath takes him into the wilderness to find 3 witches that will let him know how to kill the nearly invincible monster.On the road to see the witches, he and his group of men run into enormous scorpions, a race of.Things that are humanoid, but not quite human, and also a henchman of Hades, who happened to be his mother's husband.Not his father.Confused yet?.-).After their run in with the witches, they find that the key to kill the Kraken in to decapitate Medusa and turn the Kraken into stone with her fateful gaze.Needless to say, Perseus is the lone survivor of the encounter with Medusa and he takes the head of Medusa back to Argos, just in time to stop the Kraken from killing the Princess, and destroying Argos.The movie is very good.I give it, out of ten stars, I give it a 7.But overall.A good movie.It's not on DVD yet but if you like science fiction thrillers, you may also like Sam Worthington's other big film "Avatar.".

The locomotive and cars look great and run good. They are very sturdy and hold up to the abuse from our 2 year old and 3 year old. There are no small detail parts that can be knocked off and lost while being played with by the kids. My only real complaint is that the track is flimsy for 1-gauge standards and will work its way loose after significant running. I will defintely be looking to add on with Percy and others in the series from Bachman. This is a good product.
